Life With Mostro on Webtoon Canvas and Tapas!

After a bit of thinking, i decided to upload in english my webcomic, Life with Mostro, on Webtoon Canvas and Tapas.

Life with Mostro is a collection of small strips made between 2017 and 2020 about a kid and the Monster (Mostro) who lives under his bed.

Mostro started as a doodle. One of those drawings you make without a plan, during a period of your life when you need comfort more than you need a concept. I was going through a rough time, and somehow this little creature kept showing up on the page. I didn’t fight it. I just let him be there. Eventually, he became a comic.

To do so, i repurposed all the old pages in the webcomic format, designed all the covers and started posting.

When I started preparing the English version, I had to make a decision: do I redraw everything from scratch, or do I trust what I made?

I wanted to be faithful to the things i designed, so i resisted the urge of re-designing things. Life With Mostro was born in a moment of my life in which i needed comfort and kindness, and it reflects my way of creating art in that moment. Sometimes i think that I could draw everything from scratch, but I’m trying to be more kind to myself and the past Marco.

So, I tried to design a fun system to use the original art of the comic with some new art, so i imagined Barco and Mostro in a museum, watching at “old” art.

Some of the posted strips are the ones that appear in my first self published book, “The cure for sad days“.

New episodes are posted regularly on Webtoon Canvas. It’s free. It’s short. Each strip is its own small thing.
